Tour of the AGCC Arab Gulf

The second edition of this new and exciting tour ended this Saturday.

A race consisting of a prologue and 8 stages, crossing 5 Gulf States : Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and BahRain.

This year the race was won by Mohamed Hasan Al Marwi from the United Arab Emirates. There were 5 stage-wins for the Emirates, 3 for Qatar and 1 for BahRain.

For the time being it's a national event, but this should deserve a UCI-licence !!

Arabia is investing more and more in cycling. It all started with the Tour of Qatar, then there was the Doha GP and the Golden Jersey race. Recently various one day UCI races were added in Qatar and the Emirates and (very exciting) a very FIRST tour of Oman is in the making for 2010 (February).

Lots of things to look forward to, and it's excellent that this region is also interested in developing our sport !
