After so many places finally arrives the first win for the Selle Italia-Ghezzi, thanks to huge class of Fabiana Luperini who beat Worrack and Nebel in the second stage of Gracia-Orlova. After the third place in the inaugural stage Fabiana has shown once again her great skills on the mountain: she was able to excel in a very difficult stage despite her goal, the Giro d'Italia, is still two months away.
Today's stage was animated already on the first climb where Worrack and Neben made a great forcing and only Fabiana Luperini was able to follow them: has been a long breakaway till the finish line for the trio. In the overall classification now Fabiana is second, a few seconds behind the leader Worrack awaiting tomorrow's time trial.
«Fabiana today was very good - commented the sports director Walter Zini - because it was not easy to resist to this rhythm: unlike the others she's not yet in top condition because there are still two months to the Giro, but with this success we know to be on the right way. Also the other girls of the team did a great race today, Foresi was in a breakaway in first kms while the other helped Fabiana before the climb: now we will have to defend our position in the time trial but we have a great chance to finish this race on the podium». Also team president Walter Ricci Petitoni is very satisfied: «Before the Flèche Wallonne Fabiana told me she's on good shape, she is on the levels of last year and this makes me hopeful for the National Championship and the Giro d'Italia».

Good news also came from Gattatico, from the GP GFM Meccanica: Giada Borgato took an excellent third place, the best result of her young career, in a race which saw the Selle Italia-Ghezzi always on the attack. The sports director Fortunato Lacquaniti tells us how the race went: «We were almost certainly the most combative team of the day and have tried several times to attack. Bagdonaviciute was the first to attack, then it was Marina Romoli's turn and just when she was taken escape the decisive group in which we had Borgato and Kozonchuk: unfortunately against athletes like Ziliute and D'Ettorre we were beaten in the sprint so Oxana tried in the last lap but she was caught: Giada was great in the final sprint and hardly could have done better: we have a young group that in recent months has improved greatly and now we are starting to see the results of winter tranings and they are giving us, and will give, some satisfactions». With this third Giada Borgato was also awarded as the first rider ranked among the Under 23.
